Flo the Flamingo and Picasso the Gorilla enjoying a beautiful day at The Atlanta Zoo in 2016.  Picasso the Gorilla was created in partnership with Julia Hill and the Center for Puppetry Arts XPT Series. He was build to inspire and spark curiosity into new ways of looking at the world. We have two "Flo's", Baby and Momma, both are stilt walking puppets. Please inquire about rentals or original custom creations. Team Awesome @ Zombie Cat Studios       So many good things and people came together on this one. With a healthy schedule of 5 weeks, Spencer Murrill, Cedwan Hooks and myself worked happily and diligently. Our team's combined years of experience and skills in puppet/mascot building, theatre/stage logistics and production made this build achievable within the budget and timeframe.       Employing long lasting, archival materials with the newest building processes and supplies made these puppets stage ready and user friendly. The beavers are light enough to move around stage easily and puppeteer for even small performers. Aslan the lion combines the body and head within a single performer, creating a striking and enduring stage personality.  Aslan's body has an aluminum frame, foam body and felt fur/skin. His mane was made from fake plastic ferns. His head weighs less than 10 lbs.  His body/legs are less than 20lbs.     ...

          After almost two years of talking, thinking, writing and planning, Cardboard Puppet Wars was born out of an excessive amount of cardboard we get at the shop and the blood thirsty challenge of creating a puppet to battle within set limits. We finally pulled the trigger and started the first of several battles. Learning and adjusting with each run.           From Inman Park we head to the West End of the ATL! With productions getting bigger it was time to join fellow industry friends Molly and Victoria Coffee at Zombie Cat Productions with their new 6,500 sqft shop and production space. Located in the Metropolitan Arts Complex, ZCP has become an umbrella space for Raymond Carr's Ninja Puppet Productions, Spencer Murrill Puppet Productions, The Atlanta Film Chat Podcast and several other talented assistants and helpers.  Truly a talented and diverse family!  The Shop is constantly in motion, with props, sets and puppets being built all over. Grateful to be busy and working on fun and challenging projects and productions!  BRP even got a top corner office! Maybe they'll make me a shop manager one day.... We made a "Making of" video. Enjoy.          Combined efforts into a large project can make light and quick of any work.  With Raymond Carr to lead the way, I and my team built this super light weight prop submarine for the GA Aquarium.  Trying to construct a set piece this big, that could be handled easily by the driver within, took some KISSing. Keeping it super simple. Simple design. Simple construction. Building on what we've proven with past projects and working with familiar and proven material.  This build was extra nice because we knew it would have a home at the Aquarium as soon as we finished building. It's always nice to know your "babies" are going to a good home, immediately.        A big thanks to Daniel and Josh Ford at the GA Aquarium.  And to Raymond at Ninja Puppet Productions, Rachel DeUrioste, Thomas Trinh and Jason Sokolic!

Who knew a small prop toy would lead to one of the most challenging projects yet?  After building a few magic props for Michael Carbonaro and his magic team, I was asked to take the helm of a new art dept. for the TV show.  After assembling a team of amazing artists, including Raymond Carr, Molly Coffee and Thomas Thrinn, we got to work on magical props and logistic challenges. With dozens of locations and multiple projects to juggle, the production was a unique experience.  Look for episodes on TrueTV.   This small bit from an episode was one of our silliest.   Big thanks to Michael and everyone at The Carbonaro Effect.
